Battling with Fear

Battling with Fear

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” 1 John 4:11

“For God hath not given us the Spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:17

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba Father.” Romans 8:15

“The lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid?”

Why Fear?

Why fear? Recently, I asked myself this question. How did Elisha stand bold when his territory was encompassed with horses, chariots and a great host and midnight? How did Moss take a bold step towards the red sea at the command of God? How did Paul and Silas peacefully raise their voices in worship when all around them was prison gloom and pain?

What made the three  Hebrew boys refuse to bow when they knew the import of a fiery furnace? What caused Daniel to keep his windows open while in prayer, fully aware of the command? What kept David writing Psalms of trust when in serious pursuit by Saul?

You would realize that these individuals fully understood the passages above.

God is the creator of all that was created for He alone was not created. He who spoke out galaxies, waves, mountains, and sea creature, unnumberable, no one exactly the same, He who has principalities and powers subject to Him and who holds each heart in His hands under His control has said fear not. So, why fear?

Why fear nature, when you have read how He made a dry path through water and peace of a turbulent sea?

Why fear man, when their life is His breath and the entire system is handiwork? Why fear principalities and spiritual forces, when His decree brought them to be and His control they cannot overpower? Or have you not heard that demons pleaded for their lives when He decreed to set a man free?

Why do you fear the Devil when the one who overpowered Him in Heaven, overpowers him on earth and will destroy him eternally has said “ I will come with vengeance and will save you”

Battling With Fears 2

Tell me then, are you an orphan, or the child of a living God? A  child of the living God you say? So why don’t you act like one?

Fear not because the moment you fear, you declare to the ost of Satan that they a great edge over you

Wrestling Fear with God’s Word

So, what if you know all these things and you still find yourself with an occasional heart jump and doubt. Well, that’s why the word of God exists. For faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. On your knees tell God about your fear and put some verses in your mind.

Remember, the word says of God “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee because trusteth in thee”.

It takes the mind to stay on God to have peace. Thus you can say “what time I am afraid, I will trust in thee” Psalm 56: 3

Why fear? No reason at all.
